Ron,

Geno's doesn't have the Hawk pads for an 02? Here are my results with the following on a truck that was run empty 85% of the time before the EGR brakes.

Stock 20K miles. Decent stopping.

Stock 26K miles. " "

Bendix 22K miles. Excellent stopping, but noisy.

Raybestos 22K miles. Very similar to stock.

Now with the EGR Brakes it's another story. I have 60K on them and the fronts are at 50% and the rears at 80%. No noise and they feel solid like Ford brakes. They are extremely pricey upfront, but the cost shakes out in the end.

PJ, if tirerack doesn't have it on their website call them, they most likely just don't have it listed.

slayerfish,

I've never had Hawk pads on my truck. I've had a few buddies that have and they swear by them, but when I let them drive my truck they rave about how great it stops and how solid the pedal feels. They just can't see spending the $$$ and I can respect that. To each their own.

Ron,

With the EGR brakes you're not just changing pads. You're replacing almost all of the braking system. It is a world of difference. Those who don't have them or haven't driven a truck with them couldn't even begin to understand. You only know the best that you've had. If you get the EGR's from Glenn you won't be disappointed. His customer service is top notch too!!!

smokin, I've installed and driven EGR equipped trucks and can honestly say that I can't tell the difference between the way they stop or with Hawk pads in addition to GM 1 ton cylinders (Napa #4637337) in the back.
Several people have told me adding the larger cylinders has cancelled their plans for an EGR or rear disc conversion.
Cheap enough course to take, if it doesn't do it for you little loss.

I tried a brand called Thermoquiet from Canadian Tire. $70 and has been the only brand I've tried that didn't squeal

Bill,

Really? You didn't feel a difference? I suppose I could see that as I had one of the '99's that had the infamous brake pull, but even my buddy who has an 04.5 says my truck stops better than his. I fought DC and got enough less the attorney's fees to cover the cost of the EGR's from Glenn.
