Delayed 1st Gear Upshift - Output Speed Sensor?
Anyone else had this problem?
Here lately, on initial take-off, truck would not shift properly out of first gear...was actually "delayed", and wouldn't shift till a much higher RPM than normal was reached.
Found out it's the output speed sensor...

No sir, I don't.
I'm at school, and the truck in question is my dad's.
Last week, got a call that the truck was showing this problem, and with over 100,000 on a Cummins/47RE combo, I was fearing the worse...
Truck took a trip to a local diesel mechanic (who specializes in CTD Dodge's) and he quickly diagnosed it as an output speed sensor malfunction.
Replaced sensor, and transmission is now supposedly working as intended.

I believe i may be having the same problem. If i reset the batteries it is okay for a few days then starts again. I was wondering if you had experienced this at all. I was also wondering where the output speed sensor is located on the truck and how much it cost. Thanks

I had mine done almost a year ago now, when mine went it was very intermittent and it also would cause the TC to unlock as the truck thought it was not moving. I took 3 trips to the dealer before it was picked up. One point to note was the Tech told me the OPS in these 47REs is the same pt# as for the Caravans and they replace them all the time but this was the first one they seen in a truck, go figure
