DC has changed replacement requirements on lp

Took the wife's ride in for lp replacement. Had 7 at idle and the mechanic said that DC had changed the way that they would measure the lift pump for replacement. they would not go by pressure but by out put of the lp. 45oz i believe when the key is bumped. Sounds like a way them to get out of replacing faulty pumps. He talked them into replacing the wife's pump it will be in monday, then the banjo bolts go in ;D

you would think it would be cheaper for DC to invest in a better lift pump ( they gotta be out there) then risking a warranty replace on a vp-44....But common sense and corporate sense are two different things i guess..just my .02

DC just replaced my vp44 but before they did they checked the fp and that is the wording on the invoice. FP output 48oz, was wondering what the heck that was, my pressure is a steady 15 @ idle, 12-13 @ cruise and 10-11 @ wot.

Must not be all they changed...

Out of warranty - my truck needed one. Priced at local dealership $230+ but the parts guy kindly advised me he couldn't sell me one direct that Dodge has gotten REALLY strict on this part.

The only way they could sell me one OUT OF WARRANTY was if they directly (a dealership) ordered the part from Dodge and they physically did the install.

Walked a little crooked out the door from a shaft attempt and I found the number to Cummins and had one on the way the next day for $150. Needless to say another shop install it.

This is a 5-Star dealer for what its worth.
