Angry Dang local Cummins parts shop

I am stationed on Guam. There is a local Cummins service and parts house here. I called for some various parts. An oil filter, another BHAF, a lift pump and 2 banjo bolt gaskets.

The oil filter I want is the LF16035 (the one with the fluted end), Stratapore of course. Parts dude says they don't have it, and is not listed in thier computer or the parts book. Kept insisting that the oil filter I need is some other filter (not the standard LF3894).

Strike one.

Need a BHAF, Fleetguard stratapore AH19037. The guy sounded confused, then asked me if it was for a boat. Hmmm, this filter is not the marine version. Not in stock.

Strike 2.

I need banjo bolt gaskets. You would think this would be a common item there. Espescially with all the lift pumps they sell. Nope. Not in stock.

Strike 3

I have a dying LP that needs to be replaced. Gave them P/N 3990105. Guy says we have lots of those (local island small tour buses are powered by ISB's, a very large number of them). Wants over $220. Yikes.

Strike 4.

You should have heard the conversation, it was amusing to say the least. Now I gotta try and get these parts elsewhere. Anyone know a good place to get a lift pump cheap?

I bought filters and a lift pump from these fellas. The banjo gaskets don't come with the pump FYI. Great people to deal with too! Phil

Buy the stuff on line and have it shipped in.

Thanks for your service!

I loved Guam! I got stuck there for 4 weeks during in 1974 during the Nam thing. There was a WWII Jap soldier that had just surrended (he was living in the mountains) about a month before I got there! I'm not kidding either.

Do the hermit crabs still come out and take over during mating season? You'll need 4WD when they do!

I stole an Admiral's car on the Navy base (at the bowling alley) and took it for a drive. I was dispondant over a "Dear John" letter from my fiancee, so I stole his car. It made sence then anyway. No, I didn't get caught, I would still be in jail if I had.

I love snorkeling there. Great jungles.

Guam is were "America start it's day."
