How do I find out if my buddy's axle is limited slip? Are all dana 70's or can it come without? He has an 01 2500. How important is the "limited slip additive" when doing a fluids change? Thanks guys.

If the tag is still in the glove box, it should be on it. At least it is on my 2000 3500. Or it might be on the tag on the axel.

Additive is needed even if fluid says it is approved for LS diffs. Generally need two bottles.

If all else fails, jack the rear of the truck up and spin a tire. If the other side spins the opposite way, easily, you have an open diff. If there is resistance, and/or the other side spins the same direction, you have either a limited slip, or a locker.

Mine says anti slip differential under the hood.
