Cutting out problem

Hi all, been a while since I've been on here. Having an issue with my 02 2500. It has an edge comp (hasn't been turned on in 3 years) honed injectors and larger (I think manual trans turbo) It did this once or twice over the last year but in the last month is doing it pretty regularly. While driving the check engine light comes on and the RPMs drop to about 1000 even if you push pedal all the way down. Usually (not always) I pull over and shut off, start again and its fine. Then after the 3 start cycles the check engine light goes off and is fine until next time. Sometimes it will happen 3-4 times in a day. Help, I have a fear of dealers!

Alright codes are P PCU P 1762 P1693 By the way fuel pressure is 15# at idle and 11-12 WOT when running fine.

Do yourself a favor and unhook the edge before you blame anything. I have seen to many edge boxes do the oddest things.

Would the edge box do anything if it wasn't in use?

I still haven't unplugged the Edge but apparently when I pulled the codes I didn't get them all. I thought P done meant it was finished but letting it continue I get 0216 and 1689. Is this the famous (or infamous) dead pedal IP failure? Is it typical that they can be squirrelly then be fine minutes later?

1689 is no good thats injection pump has no communication with ecm. 1688 is internal injection pump failure. I just had those two last week. so the truck sits in the yard till funds for a new injection pump come. so now i tow with the 76 dodge with a 318. not the same

edge comp maybe the problem

I had the same problem a month ago. Driving on a long trip with comp on level 2 no pedal response. Pulled over turn off truck and restart worked fine for awhile. Same thing occurred. Turned off Comp box. I have not had the problem since. Mty truck did this last year and evryone commented that the VP44 was going. I bought a new one and Its been good, but now it happened again. I truely think it is the edge box not the vp44. I do not have the pump wire hooked up either so if someone can explain to me why it only happens when the comp is on.

Do easiest and least expensive trys first!
1-Completely disconnect Edge Comp.... at MAP sensor, power tap and VP-44 wire tap. Drive for a while and see.
Codes will disappear after 5-10 starts if problem has been eliminated.
2-If P0216 code stays.... replace VP-44.
