Crank or Cam possition sensor??

Hello,

A bunch of guys are going to dyno this weekend. In the past we have always put an optical pickup on the crank to read rpm's for the torque readings. The F**D guys have always been able to use a pickup used on a spark plug wire. I want to be able to do this with ours, it would save alot of time. I was reading the tech manual last night and it talked about both the cam and crank position senors. My question is what do these motors have (24v 2001). If they have both which of these gives the signal for the tach?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
