a couple of CTD ?'s (dads and uncles trucks)

ok i got two questions

1. my dad's '01CTD had the water in fuel light come on what whould he do? just filled up tank also

2. my uncle's '02 CTD H.O. 6spd is having a problem pushing fuel back out the gas cap what would cause that?

does the light stay on after he drains the water separator?

I dont really see a way for it to leak from the gas cap, since it would have to be filled over the gas cap for that to happen. Could be a leak lower down on the fill tube where the fuel returns to the tank. Check the top of the tank to see if you can see any leaks there.

If he over fills is, that is past the return or vent line in the filler neck, air can push some fuel back up, and cause it to run down the side. It'll leave a nice yellow stain, which sticks out like sore thumb on a white truck. The previous owner of my truck did this, now it looks like the fender is a urinal.
