could a weak lift pump cause poor fuel miallege?

im getting about 600-650 km a tank compared to when i first bougth the truck i was getting close to 900. i know it is winter but i mean that shouldn't effect my fuel miallege that badly? the truck has 150 000 km on it. air filter recently replaced. i gotta change my fuel filter doing that this weekend hopefull if i get a chance.

Cold weather, extended idle time, winter blend plus the ultra low sulpher all takes its toll. My last tank was about 15 mpg. Winter knocks my combined driving down 3 to 4 mpg or 20 % roughly. So your figures are pretty close to mine.

I'm getting worse fuel economy than that, I chalk it up to winter fuel, idling (-36 C) and running around town. It was much better with summer fuel... it just sucks filling it up with 1.17 a liter fuel... and its going to get LOTS worse... they are forecasting 1.50 a liter or 5.67 a US gallon this summer...

poor milage!

Where I am going to work now I get about 9.8 mpg on the last 4 part tanks. Was -43*C the one morning. I was out pushing snow when all the equipment finally got started. Too cold!

As long as the lift pump is 3-5 (ice cold) psi or better I don't think it will change mpg at all.

This winter my mileage has dropped at least 2 mpg or more from last year. The ULSD was finally fully in place this year. Driving in town and at -10F or better really kills mpg no matter how carefully you drive. Cold starts also murder the mileage. Now with the 3cyl idle it is even worse. There just isn't much you can do about it. I have the Smarty on #1 which helps and have a tonneau cover which may or may not help. I had to drop the tires down earlier which really killed mpg so they are going back up to 75 all around this week end.

If you can air up the tires it is probably the best single thing you can do.
