I didn't get truck.......Pictures looked great but when I got there I found bottoms of door rusted and came through on one. Dealer refused to work anymore than 500 dollars. So the search is still on !
Thanks guys ! |
I guess it wasn't meant to be! I would avoid the 53 blocks if possible. I found about about the dreaded 53 block after my purchase. I looked under my truck and saw I had one of these lemons... but here I am with 300k and never had an issue with it. So I guess there not all bad.
good luck with the search. |
i know ill get a lot of sh#@ for this but i have had my dodge for 4 years now and want my old toyota back.i have put at least $4,000 in it over the years and cant get rid of the death whobble.even when i drive down the freeway between whobbles it still drives like crap.only reason i bought it was because i am a former cummins marine tech and think there is no better motor built in the world.if and when i get the $ ill buy an 01 or 02 f250 and do an engine swap.if you get your dodge this forum is an outstanding tool.sorry if i ****** anyone off.

It doesnt make me mad, I'm kinda in the same boat (bought for the motor). Truth is these trucks are costly to maintain and if you wanna play, you're gonna pay... I would have stayed with F150. But I have the big stinker now and it may as well be a mercedes or bmw, cause it has cost me at least the same as a well equipped 3 series or used M5. But I sure was glad i had it pulling 2 vehicles out of the parking lot at work today.

i just dont know why people think fords are so great. their front ends are just as bad with ball joints, wheel bearings, sloppy steering, etc. im a carpenter and see alot of different trucks on the job and ask their owners what problems they may have had. |
2nd gen
440- whatever you do- don't buy a 1999 they have a lousy design on the front end- to change the front rotors it is a major teardown due to the fact that they are inboard of the hubs- later models moved the rotord outboard and are much easier to service-just a fyi

I love my 99, Id buy another one, frontend is tight.
