Cold Morning Fuel Gauge Issue?

Cold Morning Fuel Gauge Issue?
This only happened once, and it's the only time I've owned the truck and the temperature got below 10°. It was about 7° when I got up the other morning to start the truck. It cranked slower than usual, and smoked a little more than usual (we typically have 25-30° mornings). I went to take off after letting it sit there for a minute or two to warm up. when all of a sudden my fuel gauge went to E, and the fuel light came on. I waited about 10 seconds, and it went back to the regular location, and then it did it again about a minute later. Down to E, fuel light, then back to normal.
Could the fuel have gelled causing this? The lift pump made a different noise that morning as well, and I don't run any kind of Anti-Gel addatives. The truck wasn't plugged in that morning either.
Just curious as to whether anyone else has had this problem.
Thanks. '

When we get into the single digits up here and I forget to plug her in , she will start rough and smoke like a chimney. The fuel pressure gauge will read in the single digits till the fuel warms up. When plugged she starts fine with little smoke but the fuel pressure will still read low till the fuel warms. I haven't experienced the fuel gauge issue.
