I am in the process of shopping for a converter and all of the research I have done points to a singe disc for anything under 500 HP. They are all aggressive. I see a lot of info suggesting billet inputs with triples. Not worth it unless you are playing real hard. I am going to order a single from Rev Max. Another thing is how the valve body is built. If it has a Sonnax servo then it is going to slam into gear and this could be part of the issue also. Slamming a triple into gear while cold. OUCH!

My rebuilt tranny has a Sonnax servo. Can that VB be adjusted in some way to soften the lockup event? All other shifting events are firm but exceptable. Lockup in OD is brutal.

Lock up in O/D is a function of the clutches in the converter and line pressure. I am guessing you might have a three disc converter? If so then there is nothing you can do. Is your TV cable set correctly? 0 preload at idle. If you have a single disc then you might have an issue with the GPR or GPS. Were they replaced at rebuild? I replaced mine when I did my valve body even though they were shifting good just for general principal and now they are bad! I have to pull my trans again for a complete overhaul so it is not a big deal for me. I will just have to replace them again.
