Ya it goes in line just like a fuse. I got mine from Radio Shack, cant remember the exact specs, if you search the 3rd gen forum you should find exactly what you need.

From what I read, can't have a light on the switch messes it all up.

I think there is a way to wire it with a lit switch but ya gotta be a lot smarter than me when it comes to electrical. BTW, the resistor was in use loooonnnnggg before the 3rd Gens came out.

get a 33 ohm resistor with a 1/4 watt power rating. the cheapest one will do. I put a terminal on the switch then cut a small jumper and soldered the resistor to it. then i soldered the rest of the wire on the other side. i covered the whole resistor and solder joints with heat shrink tubing. works nice.

If you have a "lit" switch you will need to run a relay to make the switch work with the light because you are switching a "ground" instead of 12V....

I used a double pole-double throw switch on mine....and run an LED on the dash.
It's tricky to hook up a light to come on when engaging a grounded circuit!
Had to ask an electrical engineer friend to diagram it out for me, since I am as electrically challanged as they come!
