Code 0251 dealer removed
Last June pump went out was out of town camping. Cost $3500 @ Dodge dealer to get repaired new lift pump and injection pump. Supposed to have a year warranty or 12,000 miles. only have about 3000 on it. Code 0251 came up dealer cleared code and wants me to keep driving it to see if it comes back on. Also charged me 84.00 to do it. the lift pump is putting out 10 psi @ idle and drops to less than 5 on the throttle. Should I keep driving and hope it goes out before warranty runs out in June or put an aftermarket lift pump on and hope the injector pump is not damaged to bad and lasts? Any opions or advice? Has anyone ever looked into a suit against dodge for this? I'm starting to lose faith in dodge..

I'd be all over them like flies on...well you know what. At the very least get it documented as many different ways as you possibly can that you were having issues BEFORE the warranty ran out and they did nothing to fix it. That, and I woulda told them where they could put their 85 dollar charge....

Problem is, you can't even see your vehicle until you pay up. They send you to the cashier first, then they send one of their runners off to a secret location to bring your vehicle. If you don't wanna pay, their security guard will escort you to the door. They've got you. The best thing to do is pay, document everything and call your favorite attorney. I don't know about other states, but here in Texas, (if it goes to court) you can be awarded 3 times the amount in question with your attorney getting 1/3.

They got u good with the repairs. I would of spoken tothe manager and got the 85$ removed or tried and made him document exactly what is happening.
Better yet I never go to dealers anymore, just lost faith in their (f---ups)help!

Well I still have 4 months for it to go out. However after picking it up today I feel I'm gonna get screwed anyway. That is why I'm wondering if I should just put the better lift pump on and hope the 44 lasts. As for Paying too much I know but we were camping 4hrs from home and it happened as soon as we got there couldn't find anyone but the dealer to fix it.

I would not modify anything until the warranty expires. That 85 dollar fee is the new inspection fee that some of the dealers are charging just to let your rig in the door. Keep good records and a log book specifically pertaining to this problem. Write down dates and times involved in the quest to repair your truck. Attorneys love this kind of organization as it lets them work on other things! The local dealership has fallen very low on my list of favorite places to visit. If any business I visit sends a security guard to escort me anything they are making a big mistake. Kurt

Has the code came back?
If it had been me, I would have done the same thing. By that I mean, clear the code and see if it comes back. It might have been set since the pump was installed, like if they turned the ignition on with the harness not connected etc.... My truck set a bucket load of codes when I did that in the process of priming / venting the new pump.
If the code came back and/or I had other VP44 related problems, then I would put my game face on and head back down to the dealer.
Sorry for your problems;
Jim

you could always unplug the injection pump to set a code and head back down there.
stick it to them hard. its not really business like for me to do something like that. however if they are trying to screw me like that i would make sure i get my moneys worth out of them.
