Re:Clutch replacement
I'll look into southbend
Just found out thats who DD uses
With an empty truck, I start in 2nd
With a load I use 1st
Thought I was nice to the clutch,
sure I get on it (I like smoke and acceleration)
I work in the dessert (Land development)
I tow at 75 - 85mph (cause I can)
Just seems 60k is not much life for the stocker :'(
I guess I should have been saving up for the clutch, I new the DD box was'nt gonna help any.
Well I gess now I'll have more room for injectors

The LUK Progold is a good clutch, the center is stronger than stock.

With the Luk ProGold clutch, keep your rear wheel HP under 330, and you'll be fine. Its not much of an upgrade above the stocker.

Re:Clutch replacement
I put a LUK Pro Gold in my 01' ...lasted about 500 miles before it started slipping at will in 4th and 5th. I had an Edge EZ, HX-40 and DD Stage 3's in when it did this. I think I dyno'd at 349 HP. We all were told..."It will hold no problem."
DD myself and others found out the hard way. :'(

Re:Clutch replacement
I wish I had the time to get a southbend.
But I needed a clutch and the Luk's was avil.
No dyno on the truck stock 235Hp, ???
And a 50Hp DD box.
=285 max. anad I'm sure I dont have that at the tires :-
Lots of towing 15,000#
Lots of perty hard 4X'ing
And some normal driving (yea right) ;D
Everyone is talking smoging in nevada this year, so I have been staying away from the injectors. >
But I would sure like to at least go to 275 injectors :-
Well the pro gold is in now and seems to be doing fine.
I woud sure like to see more than 60,000 out of this one. :'(

I was not trying to suggest that the Pro Gold is in the class with the SBE, just that it does have a stronger center section. It is an improvement on a stock clutch. I did not raise my HP until I installed the six speed and SBC. I would not run it in anything above than stock.

I understand.
You can bet if/ when the pro gold goes,I will get a SBC.
Or a new truck !!!!
I had a 97 ford ps prior to my 01 ram cost me more per month in auto tranny repairs than the truck payment
Thought the manual in the ram would have covered the problem.
I guess that $900.00 every 60,000 mi. is better than $2000.00 every 65,000 mi. for a rebuild on the auto :P
