Clutch Replacement
I think my clutch may be on its last legs. Only ~85K on the truck, but I get a pretty pronounced hopping when I ease the clutch out to start moving. Forward or backwards. Does that sound like a clutch? If I'm moving, no problem, though it does seem grabby if the engine RPMs aren't matched very well. If not the clutch, what should I be looking at?
If it is the clutch, how much of a job is it to replace (it's a 4WD, too)? Never done that, though I have access to a shop, lift and all the tools I need - as long as there's no special ones I don't know about.
What about clutch prices and where to get one? Can I just get a good replacement down at the Pep Boys or do I need to order from South Bend or somewhere like that? Truck is stock and may be traded/sold here pretty soon.
Anyone in the DFW area like teaching people how to do repairs like this??
Needs a new lift pump, but that's still under warranty.

Re:Clutch Replacement
i've never had one hop when i let it out usaully they slip when they go out. If you have any mechanical knowledge then its not to hard takes about a day if you can get the flywheel turned on the sameday. If you are going to sell it then put a plain clutch in it i paid around 300 for my last one. Somebody else might be able to tell you why its hopping but like i said all of mine have started slipping when they went

Re:Clutch Replacement
Mine does this, I always thought it was just cause it had a ton of torque... It only does it when in reverse or in 4x4, so I dont think its the clutch. Is a stock clutch really $300? wow, that seems high...
