Cleaning the Air Temp Sensor, who has done this?

I've read that cleaning the air temp sensor tip on the intake helps the truck run better. I haven't done it yet, I wanted to hear your opinions first.

My truck only has 18 lbs of boost WOT, 6lbs of fuel pressure, and a oil leaking turbo. I'm taking to the Dodge place they ar ereplacing the whole turbo FREE!!!

I think oil has covered the tip of the sensor and made the truck weaker.

How many people has done this and did it help????

I pulled mine at 98,000 miles and it was clean as a wistle. I got the truck at 78,000 miles. Not sure if it was done in the past or not, but after the 20,000 I put on it, it was still clean. Also, I anally check fuel milage, and there was no increase in milage after I cleaned it.

I cleaned mine (it didn't look bad at all) and it made no difference. Changed it, and still no difference.

I've checked and cleaned IAT, and MAP sensor twice now(brake clean). First time at about 90,000 kms, and just last month about 180,000kms. Both times both were very very clean, checked resistances OK, never noticed ANY differences either in mileage, power or smoke. I would check it anyways, so you're familiar with engine, and best part it's for free, but your time

The only trucks I've ever seen a difference on were the Cali 12 valves with EGR. Pull those intake air temp sensors and they look like a charcoal briquet. Lots of buildup on the grid heaters too.

If you got a Exhaust brake you will get a oily coating from the valve overlap during Jake use.

I clean mine every oil change and it's coated with a oily black soot.

I see about 1-2 MPG change every time... (approx every 6K)
