Checking Fuel Pressure

Checking Fuel Pressure
I have a 1998 ctd, and am needing to check my fuel pressure. Where is the best spot to tap into to check this. My truck is hard to start when the motor warms up and also smokes at idle. I have a good idea what's happening but i wanna check my fuel pressure first. Thanks in advance.

There are two 1/8" pipe plugs on top of the fuel filter mount. The rearmost one is pre-filter pressure, the forwardmost one is post-filter pressure. Hence, you can also measure filter restriction. (max 5psi drop across filter.)

In 98, both the 12 and 24 valve shared the same filter canister, with the pipe plugs on the top.

Just make sure you do a driving check on it
