If you use a premium gear oil like Redline Oil, then you won't have to add any LSD additive.
Redline gear oils are considered by MANY to be the best as far as low friction and high temp tolerance. Not cheap, but great.
I run the Redline Shockproof heavy, but their 75-90 is a great oil and plenty tough for heavy towing.

I changed my rear axle over to Royal Purple synthetic 85W-140 (we tow heavy), and no friction modifier was required for the limited slip. It's formulated into the blend.

Ddoge recommends 75-140 if you're towing, 75-90 if not. I like Redline too. If you have LSD...try with no additive first. If it chatters, add it little by little. Redline make an additive or get from Dodge. Every LSD is a little bit different.

I just had my front and rear diffs changed. I have LSD on the rear. Looking through the paper work I see that I paid for some ATF. Is that what the dealer uses for their friction modifier?

I should hope not. Dodge/Mopar has a proper modifier that is highly regarded (plus thay can charge you more for that). I'd guess they checked your ATF and found it low...adding without alerting you.

Yes, you are probably right about that. The ATF in my diff I thought was quit strange. My transfer case or tranny may have been a little low. I could not find where I was charged for their modifier. I wonder if it was used? I will have to check it out. If not, back it goes.
