camshaft position sensor
two days ago started truck for about 1 hour got home shut it off. 5 mins later tried to start it but would not run. pulled fuel filter out to see if there was any fuel in canister. canister was full. put filter back in bumped starter and lp started to run and truck started. today ran the truck to work. started fine at the end of day. went to wendys to get something to eat. came out and truck didnt start. did same thing i did the other day and truck started right up. but on the way home check engine light came on and lost gauges for about 2 sec. had codes checks and said it was camshaft position sensor. my ? is would this have caused my problems of starting the other day or do i have other problems?

Nope it would be the camshaft position sensor.
The camshaft position sensor is under the ip where the timing pin used to be. Yes it can cause a problem like that. Later 7.3 Powerstrokes are notorious for it and usually have similar symptoms.

I had the same problem but mine was the crankshaft position sensor behind the starter, did the same thing would not start sometimes and I lost rpm for a few minutes. I replaced it and so far it has been fine.

i also had the problem that you had mine was also the crankshaft sensor behind the starter but the gear grenaded in the oil pan so you should be able to just change the sensor and be back running back to normal
