When I tried in Cal. in about 1994, to license SWMBO's 76 Jag with a 350 Chevy under the hood we had to crawl through ALL KINDS of crud. I had to go out to PYP and prowl for days, searching for correct Chevy smog equipment. I finally found all the stuff, and at the DMV they told me that "it may become impossible in a couple of years, to license this car on Cal. highways". We loved that car. We sold it to a guy in Utah.

Mexican ricers and Harley owners get away with it all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've had my hearing assaulted while walking down the street in Los Angeles because some gorilla on a Harley insists on rapping his pipes as loudly as he can.
