Jentas, I agree with your opinion of Airtex. I lost my first one, cold *** day, windy, had to change on side of road to my old carter just to get home. Dealer was glad to send me another new one. said I needed to install a pre filter!! I have 90 gal bed mounted aux tank, with Wix fuel/water sep between it and OEM tank, then line to airtex. Wix is 12 micron, spin on filter. If that isn
't a prefilter, then what is??

Put an Airdog on with a lifetime warranty and forget about it. The lifespan rating on the motor is longer than the truck will live. You can buy replacement filters for it from Fleetguard. I'm running a 2 micron on mine.

OK now for my prove I am lazy question....well actually it is Ca CA CO COLD here and I do not want to reengineer my fuel system in the snow...Is the air dog a strait forward install ? ..Or a couple hours of mods in warmer weather is much harder in the cold........if ya know what I mean ?

I put on a Raptor 100 earlier this year and have been perfectly happy with it. Installation was pretty easy and took one afternoon. No problems whatsoever. The Raptor uses the same type of pump as the FASS and Airdog, only difference is you retain the factory fuel filter.

The Raptor is definitely a quicker and easier install. With the Airdog, you will need to route a return line to the tank (ie - fuel line from the tank to the Airdog, then a return line to the tank which usually is plumbed into the fill line). With the Raptor, there is no return line. You simply run a line from the tank to the Raptor which is installed on the frame rail, then to the existing fuel filter assembly on the side of the engine. Took me no more than 3 hours and I went slowly and methodically. I'm sure it could be done in less time.
