Blew turbo hose off

Yesterday i hooked on to a toyhauler and after about an hour down the road i was going up a steep incline, running at 100km, trans down shifted and revs went up to 2500, everything was going fine until i heard a sudden gush of air under the hood and power started to drop.I pulled over and found the first rubber hose after the turbo had blown off. This has never happened before and i never had them off before. I reinstalled clamp and drove home 600 miles and everything was fine. Could the waste gate have stuck, or just a clamp got loose?

Clamp was probably a little loose. I have done that on big trucks, you ought to hear that come off!

It might be my imagination, but it did not seem to whistle like it used to before. I removed the air silencer ring last year, and you can hear the whine up of the turbo. Now it seems a little quiter. I will install boost gauge and see what it reads. What should a high number be?

with the wastegate you should open at around 20, but if i really have my foot into it i can sometimes see 21-22... but thats rare!

if you need more boost, then you can buy a boost fooler and a (j-hook/boost elbow) depending on your transmission.

PM me if you have any questions

my 99 did that 2 years ago in the same situation. a year later 3 times, this past summer it popped off 3 times in 100 miles. the hose looked good too.

the Dodge or Cummins part is like $170 ridiculous dollars, i went to Michigan Turbo and pick up a 3 inch ID old fashion orange boost hose for $20 and it has never came off sence. i did buy new clamps too.

i have the boost elbow and bigger injectors, it pegs my 35 PSI gauge
