Black smoke after injection pump and transfer pump replaced
I am in the middle of a long road trip. I had to have my injection pump and transfer pump replaced while traveling through Texas. That was about 500 miles ago. I am now noticing considerable black smoke when shifting gears and getting back into the accelerator. This seems new and I am wondering if it is attributed to the higher elevation of northern new mexico and colorado or if there is some other issue. Truck seems to run fine otherwise. 75,000 on the odometer. Adding 4 oz of ashless 2 cycle oil and 4 -6 oz power service at every fuel stop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any fueling mods?
Could just be the higher elevation/thinner air that's causing you to get an incomplete burn of fuel. Or you can check your air filter to make sure you don't have any restrictions. How's your power? Same, less or more than before?

are you noticing any loss of power with it? Might have partially lost an intercooler boot or clamp. when I blow a boot off (its usually with a big bang) but immediate loss of power and huge amounts of black smoke.....well more than usual.
Plugged air filter?

I'd say elevation has most to do with it. And maybe the new pump. Your old pump was obviously weak, so maybe not supplying enough fuel, so no smoke. But now with a strong pump, 2 stroke oil and elevation your truck is putting out a bit more smoke than you're used too.
I put 2-stroke in my fuel every 3 to 4 tank fills and I always notice more smoke with the first tank of fuel.
