the best way to get better mpgs is to get a smarty and change the tire size in the abs feature and put it to 40 inch tires and you will be showing 60 mph on your speedo but only doing 35mph,if you hand calculate you will be getting over 32mpg.or if that doesnt work for you try driving with a egg under the go pedal

Here is my 2 cents regarding the Smarty. I ran it on the hiway in economy mode and averaged 24 MPG. When I ran it on #7, I am getting just as good or better mileage.(including pulling a 1500 lb trailer) Besides the BHAF and 4" with glaspak muffler, the truck is bone stock. I do have a hard time keeping my right foot out of it, but even when I do I still average 20-21 MPG. But of course, YMMV

thanks everyone, good info, i think the smarty might be the way to go, interesting how you are getting the same mileage even using program #7. Sounds good to me, i heard the best way to get mileage out of our diesels is to change the timing, and thats what the smarty econo program does, i believe

You may find out like I did with the Smarty that you will get better MPG on setting 7 then setting (fuel saver). I have a 6 speed with 4:10 rearend and broght me up almost 2-3 mpg around 19 now although overhead say's I'm at 24 (only wish).

I just put the Rokktek crank sensor on my truck with full advance and going at 70 miles per hour over a 200 mile trip I am up to about 18miles per gallon. I was running about 16.5mpg before the change. However, it seems that if you go over 70mph, which brings your tach above 2000rpm, then there is little or no increase in fuel efficiency. In town if I kkep oof the pedal, I'm looking at about a 2 mpg increase.

Slightly better pedal response, and a slight increase in performance(which I didn't really care about) I measured the performance gains by timing 0-30, 0-60, 30-60, 60-80, before and after adding the sensor, same night, same road, and gained about .3 seconds in each range. Not a huge increase, but for the $70 it is probably the cheapest, single best thing that you can do. Overall I'm pretty impressed.
