I have 4 years on my Maxx Walmart batteries without a single problem. A lot of below 0* starts some without being plugged in with no problems. If I remember correctly the Walmart Maxx batteries are made by Johnson controls. I believe they even say the mfg name on them. I think there is only 2 or 3 companies that make batteries anymore.

I have been running Wallys batteries since my first replacement. I generally only replace one at a time and get about 4 years or so out of them. when I replace one I keep it charged for my tractor. I usually have a junker to trade for a core. Johnson made mine, but I understand in other areas someone else makes them. They are just a few dollars less than average price. Works for me.

I have a set in my Ram and one exactly the same in my '67 W200 PW. This is the second one in the PW since the first died about a year later. Walmart replaced it no questions AND started with a complete new warranty on the replacement. Not sure that is normal but I asked to make sure that's what was going on and they said yes. No trouble with the others or the second one in the PW. Been about 2 years on the Ram and about 3 on the PW.

I use those in my boat (3 of them for the trolling motor). I always replace ALL of my trolling batteries at the same time. Making sure the build dates match.
I run them almost dead at least twice a week. (I just replaced three that were 6yrs old).

Also run them on all of our trucks. Three cummins dodges and a cummins forklift. THIS due to warranty and convenience. No matter where one goes out, there's always a Wal-Mart nearby.

Not a better battery for the money, IMHO. Run these in all my vehicles. Best to replace in sets. one older bad battery can ruiun a newer one.
FWIW!

Glove box light? What is your parasitic draw an hour after shut down?

Alternator tested? Cables? Any codes?

Check the diodes in the alternator. Sounds like they are reverse biasing.
