Bad whining when accelerating
I was told that the rear pinion bearing in my rear was bad but i dont know if thats the case or not.
Has anyone else had this problem?
When accelerating i get a really bad whine that sound like its coming from somewhere in the front of my truck. If you are costing along and not touching the go peddle it doesnt do anything, but as soon as i apply the slightest amound of power it starts to whine and it really doesnt sound good.
Someone told me to change the differential oil in the front and rear but im trying to wait for a half way warm day to do that. Any suggestions on a gear oil to use?
Thanks for any pointers anyone can give me
I am running stock tires and the everything listed in my sig (90k miles and less than 10k on the goerand trans., 5k on new vp-44 and the wire is not tapped yet)

Crawl under your truck and give the driveshafts a good inspection to make sure there is no play in anything. Jacking the truck up and turning the wheels could help narrow it down if it's a drivetrain issue.
Check power steering pump maybe? Is it throttle sensitive only or RPM sensitive? If RPM sensitive I'd check PS fluid, if it's dirty replace it with synthetic fluid.
For diff fluid, I've had excellent results from Lucas 80-90 (might have been 75-90). With over 200k on the rear the fluid comes out pretty clean in the rear on 30k changes, and the original LSD still works great.
