Auto Trans waits to move after sitting for a week
#16
I have an 01 and it does the same thing, if I leave it parked for a week or more I have to wait for the trans. Isn't the check valve used as an adapter on one of the cooling lines?
Could the check valve be weeping and need replacement?

Had the same thing on mine. A tranny guy told me they leave the check valve out on purpose to improve the flow of oil thru the cooler. Live with it. It's helping your tranny
run cooler.

I can leave my 01 with 90,000 miles sit for a month and not have to wait for it to move. I have the check valve and a temp gauge and it runs nice and cool. A shift kit will help your tranny way more than removing that valve

I recently upgraded my tranny with a BD Valve Body and Torque Converter adding to the Pressure Loc and Auto Loc. Generally I let my truck warm up for a few minutes before moving. Yesterday after it having set for over a week I started it and immediately put it into reverse as I only wanted to back out of the garage. Once in reverse, nothing. Thinking I must have missed and went into neutral I went back to park and again to reverse and the truck moved. This never happened before the VB/TC upgrades

When Dave Goerend built my tc/vb I told him I wanted to pull the check valves out of the cooling lines and he said it won't hurt a thing as long as you give it a minute to refill the TC after sitting for a while. Dave said the trans would run about 5 degrees cooler. I removed the check valves and it does run 5 degrees cooler with them out.
