Auto Shift point mod..Throttle cable?? post search
I thought I read about changing a throttle cable..or some cable to make the auto delay before shifts.
When I drive the 2500 I can manually shift thru te gears and tac it around 23- 2500 rpms, and it shifts much, much better.
Anyone else heard of this mod. I need to band-aid this tranny and get at least another year out of it.
-Thanks.

You need to adjust your TV cable, by taking out some of the slack in it, so it reacts almost instantly with the throttle. Be careful with the plastic clip when removing it, or bring to a trans shop that knows how to properly adjust it.
A properly adjusted cable will raise your shift points higher up in the rpm range, and give more responsive power throughout all the gears. Get them to scan for trans codes also(to rule out a bad governor solenoid or other electrical issues), and adjust your transmission bands. Doing these things will improve your driveability immensely, if your trans is not excessively slipping or worn out internally, and requiring an overhaul.
