APPS removal and testing
???

This is on a 2001 with an automatic

I think the APPS on my truck has a dead spot in it which is causing my truck to return to idle while driving . this always seems to happen at the same throttle position. I was wondering what the specs are on this unit and if its that hard to remove to test. I am guessing that it works the same way the TPS did on the 12 valvers but I dont want to get into it without a bit of knowledge on the unit. The TPS's were easy to test but i havent had this unit off yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Jason

The APPS is easy to remove.

Remove plastic cover
Large throttle cable pops off ball with a screwdriver
Other two connections pull forward to remove.
Take out 6-7 10mm bolts. Unplug and re-install. Tooke me less than 30 minutes.

I still have my old one, nothing wrong with it. It wasnt my problem.

As far as testing - dont get me to lying to ya
.
Send me $50 and I'll send it to ya 2nd day air. Or Ill send it to ya and if it fixes - -it then send me $50.

Got a perfectly good MAP sensor for sale too!! ;D

Coming soon "Big Black Dodges Used Auto Parts"

Thanks for the offer man, that is very kewl!! ;D

I am going to take the sucker off when i get a chance and test it out to see if thats what causing the problems that I have been having first before I replace anything. I am pretty sure if there is a dead spot it will show up with a simple multi meter ohms test. I will let everyone know what I find once i get the time to take it apart.

Jason

Re:APPS removal and testing
Had one go out on mine and it set code in the computer. Don't know any way to check them, mine didn't act up all the time, but I kept thinking that it wasn't going to come back on when I was far from home. They are expensive and you can't get them from Cummins. Kenny N4YYX
