No key in ignition. Just sitting in truck and all of a sudden I see smoke. Lift hood, realize the intake heater has activated by itself, quickly disconnected the wire for solinoids. Anyone ever have this?

Not me. Sounds like something has been messed with, like an aftermarket alarm or hack stereo install...

Wires abrading etc.....

What year truck?

Earlier versions ( at least 2000 and older, perhaps later ) drag the ground in to engage the heater solenoid, so any PCM failure that took the lead to ground would turn it on, not to mention a chaffed or eaten wire that got to ground.
