Anyone ever check the torque on the oil pan bolts?
My 01.5 only has 42k on the clock.
But I noticed my oil pan was getting a little damp with oil. Had Mobil One 5w40 synthetic. Now I have changed to Amsoil 15w40.
Never noticed a leak, just like some oil on the pan itself.
I work at auto parts store and found out the oil pan gasket was only like $20. But looked in my service manual and to change the oil pan gasket you have to lift the motor up. Thats not going to happen. So, I checked the torque spec and it said 18 ft lbs.
So, I noticed the oil seemed to be dripping off a few of the bolts. Checked torque and they were all only like 7-12 ft lbs. So tightened up to 18 lbs.
Seems like it isn't leaking anymore. Gasket will probably need to be done someday, but the things were hardly tightened. I'm lucky some didn't fall out.
Just a heads up for you guys.
Now, if could just figure out something to do with that stupid front overflow.

I've snugged mine up a few times over the years during oil changes. They needed to be re-torqued as well as it gave me something to do/check while I'm waiting for the oil to drain out of it.
