If you pierced the wire, you most likely bought the pump. :'(
The Service folks know what to look for, and Dodge Warranty also inspects the pumps sent in for replacement.
I know this isn't giving you a "Warm Fuzzy", but if it's the injection pump, that's the way it'll probably go.

Re:any warranty issues w/ vp-44 replacement?
I also answered in the help section, but I'll add a little here as well.
If you do get a new VP44, either luck out with the warranty, or shell out the $1,300 plus installation for a new one
(it probably won't be new, Bosch quit making them about a year ago, or so I heard, it will be a rebuild most likely) it will be better than the one currently in your truck.
Most of the early 24 valvers didn't have as good of luck as you, their pumps died pretty fast after piercing the wire, the later trucks with the newer VP44's seem to go on forever after piercing.
I would personally rather have a rebuilt pump than a new one, as whatever was going to go wrong first already has, and has been fixed, you should get a long life out of it.
Oh, I had mine replaced about a year ago, 4,000 miles on the odometer, it didn't up and die, but was slowly dying.
Just bad from the get go I guess, I now have either a brand spanking new one, or a rebuilt, not sure, but 17,000 miles later, still going strong, ready to be pierced next year sometime.
good luck
