Question another vent tube thread

I know this topic has been discussed before, but all of the threads I found about it were older and none of the links in them worked.

I have read from several people about doing a mod with PVC pipe to relocate the vent tube. I think that one member here may have designed it,, anyway...
I would really like to see a couple pictures of it and maybe get some more info like what size pvc (1/2", 3/4"..?) etc...

Any info or links or pictures would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Matt

Thanks!!

When I bought the truck it did not have a puke bottle, but just a short piece of hose sticking down a few inches. I have lengthened the hose a foot or so but it didnt do much, the bottom front of my truck is a oily nightmare.

I need to relocate this hose so I can tell if I have any other leaks too.

I did a search for "vent relocation" I'm surprised that your thread didn't show up!

Thanks again!

the link in my sig is the same as above. it has been like this for quite a while now. have had it through high summer temps and sub-zero winter temps without a problem. it was very easy to do. let me know if you have any questions!

I had thought about using some oil-resistant hose,, like something similar to the type of hose the oil-return hose from the turbo on a couple of mid 80's turbo dodge 4-cyl cars I used to have.
But,, I had the PVC and glue lying around, just had to drop a few pennies for the elbows/45's.

You guys are right,, very easy to do. I am waiting for the paint to dry right now, but almost out of daylight so probably will finish install tomorrow. I used Dupli-color engine enamel (high heat) paint.

Thanks for the tip
Matt

My truck did not come with a catch can. I lengthened the hose and it no longer spits oil all over the truck but now the oil drips on the driveway. What did you all do to contain the dripping? I read some where that you can tie an old sock on the end of the tube and replace as necessary. I haven't tried that because it sounds a little funky and might be more of a problem than a solution.

i left the far end of the tube open with no catch. just air between it and the ground. once in a while i look under at the end of the tube and see oily residue (barely the formation of a drop). but i have never seen evidence of an actual drop yet, whether on the ground of on the tube. the oil has to take a much more difficult path up and over the engine as opposed to a couple inches up then straight down.

My thought is that eventually the oil has to go somewhere, either on the ground or dribble back to the source. As much as I don't like it on the driveway, at least it is leaving the system. Silver R/T, that is a pretty catch can and probably works fine but is a tad bit spendy for me right now. I am glad this topic has come up (again) and I like reading what you all have done to deal with this little problem.

I think even something cheap like this would work out fine

Dang, that's cheap enough. The fittings alone are worth the price.
