Another TC lock/unlock question

Ok, as I thought that my battery changes fixed my TC unlock and lock problem, it only lasted a few days and its back to acting up again. I was also having dead pedal happening a lot so I changed the APPS and solved that problem. I thought that would also fix the TC lockup problem but it didnt. At this point it will not even try to lock up at all anymore. I have read about a reflash of the computer. My question is what computer is flashed, the ECM or some other comp. I want to upgrade the ECM for power so should I have the flash done or will the upgraded ECM take care of the TC problem. If I have to take it to the dealer what do I ask for on the TC reflash. Do they understand and know what to do? I dont want to be ripped off at the &dealership&
Or is there another part that might be needed changed out. I also just replaced my MAP this week for no power.

When I bought my new trans, it would not lock either. It ended up being that the VB was bad.

My experiance with all this is, dead petal was only permantely fixed when I replaced the VP44 and the LP at which time I added an additional in line LP. Expensive, but it is fixed. All that is working great. I also added a fuel pressure gauge. (recommended).

The lock up problems were finally solved, after,.... installing a noise fliter from DTT, running a jumper wire to the APPS, cleaning all my ground connections, smacking the dash, kicking the tires, cussing out the whole truck, wacking the steering wheel, slamming the door, and, (this is what finally did the trick for good) cutting off all the factory battery connections and replacing them with heavy duty after market replacement ends. I did not have to replace the batteries, just the ends. Even if they don't look too bad, the slight lose of current is enough to screw up the computer. Hope this helps.

I concur with the DTT noise filter. I installed it this morning and since then I've been running it hard on the freeway ... put about 50+ miles on her. I have not experienced any loss of lockup and it was starting to get on my nerves how often it would happen before. The best $37 I've spent on the money pit!

VB is Valve body. Fairly easy to replace. Not as easy on the wallet.

Check my last post. A combination of things seamed to work. the last of which was the cable end replacement. Like the filter, not expensive, but it seamed to be the final piece of the total fix. I have been to the east coast, Chicago, and now, Atlanta, all from Ohio without a hint of problems.

Extra300, what did you use to replace the battery lugs? Did you use a multi-wire lug, like the OEM? Got a pic or two?

I will start to recheck battery cables and all my connections. I am getting really irritated with this little problem and hoping to find it soon.

I used the kind with the bolt down strap (heavy duty). I was able to get the mulitple wires under one strap in every case. No loops on the tightening bolts were needed. Clean the exposed wire with I wire brush before you strap it down. I then covered the whole connection with dialectric greese for protection and put them in the straps. All the original cable was long enough even after I cut the original ends off. The one that is a little close is the one between the the two batteries. It runs over the radiator. Take care not to cut this one too short or you will have to replace the whole thing. I will post pictures this evening as I am home in Ohio for the weekend and my truck is in Atlanta.

I have a dumb question,When ya'll talk about the TC locking and unlocking while accelerating, deaccelerating, cruising. How?
I noticed with mine around 35-45 it's changing back and forth if I let off the pedal. If I cruise steady at 40mph I'm running 1150 rpm and the TC seems to be locked and at 70mph at 1900rpm it seems to be locked.

If I let off the pedal while coasting it feels like it unlocks then press the pedal again it changes or locks back up under acceleration.

Is this normal or is this the problem you are talking about??

Normal. The problem is hunting every few seconds. You would know if your truck was popping out of lock up. Sounds like your OK for now.
