Another One Bites the Dust
Well....it has finally happened..the VP 44 in my wife's 2k died yesterday! It wasnt one of those slow deaths either. She pulled out of the driveway at church and the truck jiust shut off! There were 6 codes in the computer but all of them pointing toward sensors on the tranny..But my buddy had his guys hook the truck up to a scanner...and guess what he found... 0216 code. They cleared all the codes and tried to start it again...and up jumped the 0216 code.. Even with great fuel pressure from the FASS system...it still died.. Maybe its time to get the parts together to build her a 12v for that truck
Oh well..I figured that it would happen soon or later..

The truck has 114k on it and the FASS has been on for 20k. The truck did have a push pump before the FASS..so there was plenty of fuel pressure...

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Dang it. The problem is, as you know.....its when, not if, but when will the VP44 go bad? You did all of the preventive maintenance that you could, but it still bit you. Hopefully the wife was close to home when it went south. (That helps a bit). That was one of the reasons I sold my 02. You have to rely on a vehicle, and when you know that there is a persistent problem you can’t really fix what do you do? I know buy an expensive high end VP44? Can you still trust it?
