Another Lift pump going South...

Well this is sure getting old. I just had the ******* put a new lift pump on a few days ago. Now this one has about 700 miles, and its on its way out. The first day after recieving the truck it was pushing 15 psi at the inj pump. 2 days later i checked and it was 12.5 at idle. I was heading up north this weekend and and it started to fall on its face and has a dead spot in the throttle at 50-60 mph. So I pulled her over and threw the guage on and it said 0, but the truck still was running. How in the heck does it run if there is no fuel pressure? I can hear the pump run if i flick the throttle but no prussure. Do you guys know what the heck is going on, Any info would be great. Kevin

This is typical. The VP44 will suck a little on some trucks. When my lift pump was bad I didn't even know it until I attached a gauge to it and broke the vacuum in the fuel line. Hooked the gauge up, 0 psi, removed the gauge and then the truck wouldn't run any more. :'(<br>The part you need to be worried about is the fact that since the VP44 is sucking what it needs, just barely, to run, it is not getting the extra fuel it needs running past it to get lubrication and cooling. <br><br>I no longer depend on the factory lift pump. ;D<br><br>http://www.Stamey.nu/Truck/Fuelpump.htm<br><br>Now, I have also heard plausible evidence that the factory lift pumps may last a whole lot longer if the fuel line restrictions, post lift pump, are removed. These come in the form of high-flow banjo bolts and can be had from places like GenosGarage.com and WildcatDiesel.com. The 30-40 bucks you spend on them will be worth it if you have to spend less time messing around with warranty issues.<br><br><br>Chris<br>

I put a Holley Black kit on my truck and I have 17 at idle and 13 at WOT.
