Thumbs down Another Block Heater Question...

I know that this is probably already answered in another post, but here goes anyways....I have never used a block heater before except for on a Cessna and it worked fine...Anyway..I had my truck plugged in for the first time for four hours yesterday and when i got out to it, i popped the hood and felt the heater to see if it was warm and it was, but when i went to start the truck, the only difference i could tell was that the "wait to start" light didnt stay on as long...the oil pressure still shot up to the max normal, and the engine temp gauge still took about 5 minutes to get off of the peg..should it be working better than this???
