oil pressure inaccurate

I have a problem with my 2000 Dodge 2500 Cummins. When I turn my key on my oil pressure reads to the max without the engine running. Most of the time it stays there with it running at all rpm ranges. Sometimes the pressure reads just above 40 psi and does not fluctuate with engine rpm. Once in a while my pressure reads 0 with accompanying check gauges and the chime. I changed the pressure sensor and it did not change. The funny this is that when I pulled old senser out the tip was not wet with oil ( is that normal?). I heard something about getting the computer reflashed but want to get more advice before I pay the money to get the computer reflashed or pay the dealership to troubleshoot it. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a funky guage or your new sender could be bad as well...

Someone on here (Haulin in Dixie I believe) mentioned this before - you could buy a guage from autozone (around $7) - screw it in and double check your reading....
