Airtex 7153 fuel pump question
My truck has the in-tank lift pump installed approx. 30k miles ago. The lift pump has been getting weak (lower fuel pressure, hard to start, sometimes won't start)
I just bought the Diesel Distributors Value Fuel System with an Airtex 7153 fuel pump.
The wiring harness that comes with this kit has 2 wires, but the only place I can figure the original lift pump was has a 3 wire connector. Am I looking in the wrong place?
It appears the 3 wires were cut and plugged back in. I'm almost POSITIVE this is the original connector. Am I wrong?

The Lp on my 01 has a 2 wire plug. It's just behind and below the fuel filter canister. Since your truck has the in tank pump, maybe the wiring harness has been modified somehow. You said the original wires seem to be cut and pluged back in. I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean the old pump is still in place? Also fill out your signature so we know what year truck we're talking about. Any pics available? That would help alot!

Yup.....2 wire connector for the stock lift pump in the stock location. Probably has been spliced into with the factory in tank relocate kit. The connectors are readily available at any Cummins shop. Onan generators use the same connector too. I have 3 of them laying around if you need it. Or I could get you the numbers tomorrow night.

Thanks fellas, I got it figured out. It is a 2 wire connector, near the starter. The 3 wire harness is something else. I got it all put back together and everything seems to be leak-free. The fuel pressure is around 18, which is double what I've ever seen the truck run at.
The whole kit, Airtex 7153, Draw Straw, line, was $227.99. I paid an extra $29.00 to get it shipped quick so I could get it put together for a trip this weekend.

Just a plain ole guy
I just did mine, see LP Advice thread. I'm real happy other that there's no instructions. Your just on your own to decide how and where you want to mount and plumb with the provided fittings. I am very happy with the results. The pump kit will come with a two wire extension. There is a diffrent version of Airtex for the intank, but I would never recomend putting an intank pump on anything. Too hard to deal with. I got the kit so i could mount mine in a location I liked. You can get just the pump if you've got the stock LP on the side of the block still. Even if your original bracket and fuel lines are there, you can use just the pump only option.
