ABS light flickering

ABS light flickering
When I am braking, sometimes the ABS light comes on or flashes randomly. It never stays on, just comes on for a second, then goes out. It happens at random times, sometimes when braking, sometimes not. The ABS does not cycle (buzz at the pedal or pulse brakes) when this happens. No ice or snow here yet.
Any ideas?
Will this set a code?

There is a connector for the ABS harness located directly under the passenger side battery. It will be a white-cream connector with about a 10-12 guage wire coming out of both ends. Check this connection. It will most likely be your problem. If not, a lot of times the ABS sensors get dirty and need to be pulled out of the backing plates of the front wheels and cleaned to remove brake dust and road grime so they will receive signal from the tone ring again. The connector by the battery solved my issues though. Hope that helps.

On my 95 DTD 4X4 I had the ABS light come on after changing my fuel filter. My cruise control also quit working. All kinds of possible problems came to mind, ABS switch, sensing unit on diff. and who knows what.
I back tracked to my last engine service (fuel filter change) and started looking close to the areas where I had my arms in order to remove the filter. I found a dislodged vacuum line. I reconnected it back to the rubber sleeve. This not only corrected my ABS light problem my cruise control was working again.

Mine was doing this after a dip in a muddy crossing last weekend. It was a slurry of mud and water on a logging road and the abs light flickered for a minute or two after each time I crossed it. It hasn't done it since I washed out the entire front and rear ends after my trip. I think it was a dirty tone ring on mine. KM
