99 ram feels like pulling 6k#'s empty

Well I have been hanging around here surfing threads for a while trying to get answers but am still lost. I am not new to diesels. I have owned 5 cummins (2 with VE pumps, 1 97 ram and a 06 common rail) and they all got in the 17 city to 22 hwy. This is my first 24 valve and am very frustrated. I get 14 around town and 17 on the interstate.

Now the specs 99 ram, 4x4, all stock, no power adders, only 102k miles, 2" lift kit and 35" AT's. 4.10 rear, Fass 95/95 fuel system and has boost, pyro, trans, and fuel pressure guages.

the truck feels sluggish. like when you stomp on it the boost goes up, rpm goes up but it dosen't take off. AT 70mph, 2000rpm step on it WOT to pass boost at 25psi, fuel pressure @14, and trans temp @ 160, EGT @ 800 it almost feels like tranny is slipping.

The truck feels like I am hooked up to a load of 5000#'s all the time.
There are no codes.

Can any one enlighten me.

My 02 was doing the same thing and it was my front caliper cups broken and sticking. Would take them a really long time to disengage and sometimes wouldnt all the way . My 97 acted like that once and had lost power from main relay to the transmission . Converter locked up and stayed in overdrive all the time . Only time my trucks felt like that . Oh yeah, my brakes never got hot , so i lucked up on it when i checked the brakes for wear . Good luck!

I have checked the calipers out . They are working as advertised. Having the trans checked out next week (hopefully)

just some ideas...
Clean or new air filter intake?
emergency brake off?
possibly check or change tranny fluid
and rear differential?

yup checked all that. Guess that it is just a characteristic of this truck. Checked everything out. shift ranges, boost, trans, rear, brakes. Did find that the 24v dosen't start really pulling till 18-2800 rpms. And with 4:10 gears it dosen't help.

I have an 98 Service truck, I've had some issues from it, but even loaded down with tools and what not, it still runs pretty good. 24v and 4:10 gears 4x4

Sounds like the transmission to me.

I think that your 4.1 gears, 35" tires and 2" lift are all working against you in this case. The load on your tranny is excessive, no wonder it feels sluggish and slipping. The taller stance adds to suspension slop and takes out the snap. With a lifted tall tire rig that you gun around, the tranny should be upgraded.
Don't complain when it doesn't tow well. In this configuration it is not a work truck, it is more of a show-off truck - no offense meant at all, just stating my opinion.

no offence taken. I just sold the truck. Never had this problem with my 12V's . I went back to a 12v
