99 Dodge auto tranny question!?
I've searched and searched and havent found anything already posted for this unless i missed it. My second gear band is basically completely gone! My question is , is it possible or has anyone actually done this : can i pull my pan and valve body and slip the old band out of the tranny while its still IN the truck? it sure looks like it should come out thru the bottom and slip the new band around . The tranny shops say it isnt possible and it wont fit without pulling the tranny. Even if i need to modifiy the case or band slightly to get it in would be worth saving thosuands of bucks! Anyone pulled this off before???

The tranny needs to come out...........
If the 'second gear band' is toast, all that crud from the lining as well as likely flecks of steel and brass are floating around in there.
Might as well pull it, change whatever needs changing (perfect time to upgrade ), clean it out, and reinstall it knowing that you have a good trans that will last awhile.
I 'upgraded' my '99 @ 80,000 miles with Goerend valve body and torque converter.
Best modification I have made.
Drives like a totally different truck.
