99 dodge 24 valve having trouble starting
I have no problems starting it early in the morning but once I have started the truck and it has warmed up and stop it, it is almost impossible to start again. I can sit there and turn the key and it sounds like it is not getting enough fuel.
I have to get someone to pull me, put it in second and pop the clutch. It will start right up and runs fine once I get it started. This just started over the weekend and I was looking for help here before I take it somewhere. I have already tried changing the fuel filter, it did not help.
Any ideas?

Welcome to Diesel truck Resource Salty Mule
I have read posts about this many times before and almost always it ends up being the injection pump. Have you checked to see if your Lift pump is still working? Goofy little things dont seem to last.
Good luck
Jason

A few months ago I had the same issue, I replaced the lift pump and that made things worse, took it to a dealer and they couldnt find issue, so they called STAR was told it was the injector pump, mechanic didnt think it was, they told him to unplug the power from the lift pump and try to start it, and that worked. an new injector pump and it works fine. You might want to try unplugging the electric from lift pump the next time to see if it helps.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago on my '99. Turned out to be a cracked high pressure line. There wasn't much of a diesel smell associated with it either.
