6spd shifting probs
I was wondering if anyone knew if the 6spds had synchros for the reverse gear? My 6spd is having some really rough notchy shifting and I think it's due to the clutch not fully disengaging because of a older slave cyl. (1996) I think since the slave cyl is older it's not pushing the slave pushrod out enough and not disengaging the clutch completely. Sometimes if I try to go right into reverse when the truck is standing dead still it will grind. If reverse doesn't have a synchro than to me that can only mean the clutch isn't disengagin all the way. With the rest of the gears it's hard to tell becuse it could be the synchros them selves causing the problem. A new slave cyl is $384 bucks from dodge so I'm trying to get this right the first time. I have already changed the tranny fluid 3 different times using dodge fluid and aftermarket so I know it's not that type of fluid I'm using. I have the factory fluid in it right now though. All 3 times I changed the fluid I had a fair amounbt of brass shavings from the synchros floating in the fluid. So I'm just trying to save what synchros are left for the winter so this summer I can put new synchros in when it's nice and warm. Any suggestions ideas would be great. I don't think it makes a difference but I'm using a slave cyl that was on a 5spd tranny. I'm pretty sure all the slaves are the same though so I doubt that's important. Thanks in advance.
