I dunno about choosing either of the nv's when the g56 is available. Aluminum case smooth shifting, cheap and parts are available. Why on earth would you want to swap to a 5 speed with the 5th gear problem and risk getting bit by the power bug and twist off a 1.25" shaft? Or get a 5600 and have the weight, notchy shifting and parts availability hassles?
I would vote for the g56 over either of these transmissions. But if I chose a 5 speed for the swap I'd upgrade to the 1.375" shaft, 13" clutch and fix the fifth issue at the same time. And I'd only consider it if it was geared lower than 3.73
