4wd

I put the truck in 4 wheel drive the other day to get out of my friends gravel driveway sos i wouldnt tear it up... on the way down the hill i shifted back into 2wd and it wouldnt shift! The 4wd light even went off and it was still pulling with all 4 wheels... After about a hundred more yards it shifted back into 2wd... is this normal??

More than likely normal.

It can't shift out till all the parts unbind.
Or, the CAD is fighting against cold thick grease.

The odd thing about that story is that the 4WD light went off while the front axle was still engaged. The 4WD light should stay on until the front axle disengages. I've had many instances where I had to drive a little bit after shifting out of 4WD before the front axle released, but the light always stays on till it does.

I have had to let off the accelorator (sp) to take the torque off the drivetrain before it would go back to 2wd.

Light switch portion of the CAD might be quicker than the mechanical portion.
