47RE gauge question
I am getting ready to buy a transmission temp gauge for my 02. Is there a place on the cooler lines going to the front cooler to tap into? If so where is it located? Thanks

Ok after doing some searching I have answered most of my questions, but one remains. Where is the idiot light sensor located? And can you put in a tee there at that point?

The external sensor you are refering to was used on the 94-95 trucks. The outlet line has a bung welded on it and is hands down the best way to mount a temp sensor in your 02. Factory your gov psi transducer has the temp sensor built into it and is an input for the jtec controller (powertrain). If you buy a gauge set such as the X monitor you simply tap into that wire and it will give you the same temp reading as you would see using the DRB scan tool. For using a single gauge I would go to the dealer and order the line.

Well I crawled under my truck today to check out the lines. There are no bungs welded on either line. So my choice is either cut into my line or replace with a new one. Like I asked does anyone have a part number for this line? And is the fitting at the front the same for all second generation trucks? Thanks

Am I to understand (now that I am a gauge nut) that the "easiest" way to install a temp gauge in my 01.5 is to replace one of the cooling lines with the above part number, and this provide me a place to screw in the temp sender, or do I just not know how to read?

I wouldn't call it the "easiest", but definately easier than drilling, tapping and bunging the tranny pan.
Most go this route as they believe it to be the most "accurate" way to read the fluid temp.
I went with the replacement line myself.
