47RE and Engine RPM
I have a question for the 47RE guru's. When entering a freeway overpass, my truck is typically crusing in OD at 60mph at about 1650 rpm's. Usually, I press the OD button off and the engine rpm's jump about 800. I do this to avoid lugging the engine. I'm wondering what kind of damage I'm doing to the torque converter or other some other tranny part when I do this. It's kind of hard to slow down to 40-45 and then press the OD button ( because of trailing traffic) unless you wait until you get farther up the overpass. So far the tranny seems to be working fine - I just don't want to shorten its' life any more than necessary.
