I drove about 100 miles over the weekend, got off exit ramp slowing down, RPM's rev up to around 1700 as it was apparently downshifting. Then from a complete stop the truck starts out in 2nd gear, then to 3rd, but not OD. It appears that I'm in a "limp". I also reset the APPS to no avail.

Well after a long slow drive home I have been able to do some research. I think I'm going to try a new Governor Pressure Solenoid , and Transducer if I can get the courage up to drop the pan (I'm not a mechanic…). I have some questions however… I've found different part numbers, which are correct for my year?

What else should I do while I have the pan down? I've read about adjusting the bands, but not sure if I can tackle that job successfully… Can these parts only be bought at the dealer?

Dealer is good place to start on parts. You might want to consider upgraded vb. Band adjust easy, just read thread.
The GP sol is most likely suspect in story.
Use ATF+4 fluid.

It is a 47re. The 46 was not put behind a Cummins.
